Workhorse Suspension Upgrades

Workhorse suspension upgrades are one of the best things you can do for an older Class A gas coach that still runs strong but doesn’t drive as nicely as it used to. The Workhorse W-Series chassis (you’ll usually see W20, W22, W24, or W25.5) was built specifically for gasoline motorhomes, and plenty of them are still out there racking up miles. When the suspension is tired, the coach will let you know.

The most common complaints I hear on Workhorse rigs are pretty consistent: wandering at highway speed, getting pushed around by passing trucks, too much lean in turns, and a sharp, busy ride over seams and rough pavement. That’s usually a mix of worn shocks and steering/sway control parts that are working overtime on a heavy motorhome.

This collection focuses on the parts that make the biggest real-world difference on a Workhorse chassis:

  • Motorhome shocks to control bounce, porpoising, and “after-bump” rocking
  • Sway bars to reduce body roll and side-to-side rocking
  • Track bars (when applicable) to help keep the rear end tracking straight
  • Steering stabilizers and dampers to calm the wheel and reduce constant corrections
  • Helper springs (air or rubber) to reduce sag and bottoming out when loaded

If you’re not sure where to start, go by what you feel most: sway and lean usually points to sway control, wandering points to steering/axle control, and bounce or harsh hits points to shocks and load support. And if your coach sits low in the rear or bangs the bump stops, that’s a load support problem, plain and simple.

Not every Workhorse coach is set up the same, so fitment matters. If you need a hand, reach out with your coach year, model, and chassis (W20/W22/W24, etc.) and we’ll help you match the right parts the first time.
